CHECK OUT PICS FROM THE ARCHITECTURAL WALKING TOUR

We had a terrific time on our Architectural Walking Tour – the 2nd stop on our Cultural Circuit.  On a sunny Saturday our group met at Praca Sete to begin touring with our knowledge and personable tour guide Cláudio Henrique Lysardo Teixeira

Claudio shared with us the tremendous history of Belo Horizonte and the significance of many of the old architectural buildings and interiors that made up the former cultural center of BH.  He also told us some wonderful and warming stories his grandmother has shared with him over the years about what the life was like in BH in years it was considered the most sophisticated and grand city in Brazil.

We had such an overwhelming number of requests to join the tour we had to turn many away.   Because of this we’ll be looking to repeat the tour later in the year.  In the interim, Claudio is working with Minas International to prepare an English guide of the sites we visited.  More information to come soon!

After the tour we went out to a traditional Mineiro restaurant for a great lunch and some yummy dessert!

The Praca de Liberdade Circuito Cultural is being implemented by the Government of Minas Gerais, through the Secretary of State for Culture.  It intends to offer new areas of knowledge, art, culture, science and entertainment.  The circuit, developed in partnership with private and public organizations and companies, restore and gives new uses for the public buildings surrounding Praca de Liberdade, transforming it into a rich set of information and culture, composed of historical, artistic and thematic collections; interactive cultural center, library and spaces for workshops and courses plus a planetarium, cafes, restaurants and shops.

The Minas International’s Minas Social Cultural Circuit will include…
